Nerf Packaging Redesign

TOY PACKAGING REDESIGN FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Packging, Graphic, Photography, Video Campaign
Students are required  to choose an existing toy package and redesign it, coming up with a solution that is both environmentally friendly and retains the original target audience. Inspired by airsoft gear, my aim is to create a professional military visual style while making the packaging functional as a reusable storage/ carrying box.

I chose airsoft equipment (gun box) as the source of inspiration and designed a new package for the Nerf Elite 2.0 Volt SD-1 toy, giving it a military visual style. This redesign aims to attract not only children but also more teenagers, while making the packaging reusable for storing and carrying the toy.

Nerf, a brand by Hasbro, is renowned for its foam-based toy blasters and sports equipment. Targeting children and teens, Nerf's products promote active, imaginative play, making it popular among both younger audiences and their families.

Final Dieline

[My Improvements]

• Reusable as a storage box and designed for easy stacking during shipping
• Keep product visibility with better protection
• Use no adhesives and no plastic
• Use only cardboard for the entire packaging
• Rely solely on the dieline for assembly, which can be easily flattened
• Minimizes production waste with precise dieline cuts
• Opt for monochrome printing for sustainability, highlighting key graphics with limited UV printing

Final Prototype

Further Improvement Direction:
Initially, I designed the box to be small enough to allow the gun to attach to its frame. In the future, I aim to improve the dimensions to make them more precise.
